HDSS-2053 - Heavy Duty Slurry Seal Double with Pumping Ring for thick x-section seal chambers

The HDSS-2053 is a double cartridge mechanical seal with integral, bi-directional barrier fluid pumping ring with inboard wetted parts supplied in 316 S/S. The seal is designed for heavy duty slurry applications with process fluid containing particles as found in the Mining & Mineral, Pulp & Paper and Water & Waste sectors.

The innovative stationary seal design is offered as a complete cartridge mechanical seal solution and is designed specifically for Plan 53, 53A, 53B and 53C system piping arrangements, however it can be used with Plan 52 and 54 systems.

In equipment applications which have a small x-section seal chamber, the HDSS-2053 can be fully mounted externally (space permitting) as shown. The gland insert with integral vortex breakers creates an idealised environment with a large fluid volume over the inboard faces for optimum performance and seal longevity.

Key Features:

• The Sleeve End Cap and Gland Insert is made from 316 S/S. It can be supplied in a variety of wear resistant materials to suit the arduous slurry application. (See HDSE-2053)
• It can be fully outboard mounted so ideal for equipment with a small x-section stuffing box/seal chamber which is not conducive to seal longevity in slurry applications.
• Large Seal port orifices - 1/2" NPT Barrier Fluid In (BI) and Barrier Fluid Out (BO) orifices for Plan 53 or 52.
• Barrier fluid is directed to the inboard faces via an integral deflector built into the seal gland. As the barrier outlet is over the outboard faces, effective heat removal occurs at both sets of seal faces
• Gland Insert with integral inboard vortex breakers, ideal for applications including slurry or suspended particle/solids in the process media.
• Radial clearances between rotary and stationary components conforming to the best practice requirements of API682.
• Monolithic seal faces for improved high temperature performance
• Stationary seal design with self-aligning stationary seal face. Ideal for high speed applications.
• Multi-spring design with springs out of the process fluid.
• Highly efficient bi-direction barrier fluid pumping ring.
• Used in conjunction with the STANSEALS Plan 52, 53, 53A, 53B, 53C or 54 Seal Support Systems.
